Dr. Wade grew up in Boone, NC and graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2009. Following graduation, she spent two years working with children with autism before deciding to attend graduate school at the University of Virginia, where she received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology in 2016. She spent her internship year at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland, OR working in behavioral pediatrics and with children with medical complexities. Dr. Wade moved back to NC in 2016 to complete her post-doctoral training at Duke Medical Center, where she worked in the Duke Children’s Evaluation Center and the Center for Autism & Brain Development. Following her post-doctoral training, Dr. Wade began working in private practice. In 2022, she joined the volunteer-led Board of Directors of the Project Enlightenment Foundation, supporting Project Enlightenment's efforts in early childhood education in Wake County.

Dr. Wade works primarily with parents and their young children. She has a particular interest in working with children with selective mutism and their families, utilizing principles of PCIT-SM in her work. Dr. Wade’s approach is collaborative and strengths-based, and she utilizes evidence-based practices including CBT, ACT, and SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions). In addition to therapy, Dr. Wade provides psychological and psychoeducational evaluations for a variety of presenting concerns including learning disabilities, ADHD, developmental delays, autism, disruptive behaviors, anxiety, and depression.

Dr. Wade is a strong advocate of early intervention and believes that it is crucial to include parents in her work with young children. She strives to foster a warm and collaborative relationship with all of the families with whom she works.
